Friday Photo: Falling

Posted on November 18, 2011 by

Sometimes as I’m moving around in my day, an image gets stuck in my head that I can’t shake. Sometimes it conjures up a memory, a feeling, or provides an impulse to do something. Often, though, I just see something that I want to capture in my mind for no particular reason-it just speaks to me. I’d like to offer these images up for ‘thought contributions’-as a way to generate a community of ideas together.

This week’s Friday Photo was taken on our local university in front of one of my favorite places: the library.  These sculptures, The Eggheads, are sprinkled around campus, each symbolizing a particular aspect of college life.  The artist, Robert Arneson, believed that his art should embody economic, social and political commentary-and this Egghead does just that for me.  My brain is so full these days, nearly every night I fall asleep in this Bookhead position!

What would a sculpture look like of you these days ?

A blob! Lack of sleep and too much to do and not enough time for MEMEMEME time. I know, we moms are not supposed to whine, but once and a while I indulge. Have a wonderful holiday.

I remember when these Eggheads were installed. I was working on campus at the time. Loved it when the two were on top of the two ends of the grazzy hill, in front of hte Law School. My kids and I would run up and down between the two. Good memories…. they’ve since had to move those two when they remodeled.

A sculpture of me these day would probably be sitting quietly, deep in thought, gazing at nothing in particular. I pretty much do that a lot 🙂

I like the “Blue Man Egg.” Cool.

Mine nat look something like– “”Humpty Dumpty Falling off the Wall…”” and nobody, not even the King’s horses and all the King’s men can put me back together again!

I love that one. It is kinda fitting for me lately too. I have been on clinical for my Respiratory Therapy class. One of the hospitals had some fitting ones for me too, they were squirrels dressed in hospital garb. I feel a little nutty these days.

Hopping in from the Getting To Know You Hop. 🙂

Maybe the one in front of Mrak, standing on its head, its brain scrunched down…or the one lying on its side in front of the main theater. (I love the eggheads. I found one of them on the Embarcadero in SF, but a smaller version)

You are too funny! My sculpture would look like yours, possibly flattened with a steam roller?:)

Today seems so nice though…just me and the kids, relaxing on a Saturday…ahhh.

I found you at the Getting to Know you Friday Blog hop. I’d love a visit at http://green-mama-jama.blogspot.com/

    God bless,

Very cleverly portrayed and I must say this is precisely how I feel at the end of most days.
